What I Do |
I have always been interested in photography, and have endless albums of photographs going back years and years and even more shoe boxes with thousands of pictures which still haven’t made it into albums! |
In 2003, with a final shove of encouragement from Clive Nichols whose work I have admired for years, I decided to go a bit more ‘public’ with my work. The following year I won the Colour Print Worker of Year trophy and the Photo Essay trophy at Bath Photographic Society. I hope you enjoy looking at my photographs. |
I studied a City and Guilds course in jewellery making a few years ago and, on a rather too regular basis, kept being told by my tutors that my illustration photographs were a great deal better than the jewellery I was making. I gradually spent more time with the camera and less with the semi-precious metals and stones. The advent of ‘serious’ digital cameras suddenly made everything perfect as I have complete control over the image from start to finish. I discovered Experience Seminars and attended every workshop that they ran on different photographic techniques and realised what wonderful fun I could have with my camera. I have a lot to thank them for. |
I have always used Canon cameras, the first one being an AE-1 which I still have. I gradually worked my way through various models and finally, two years ago, swapped my EOS 5 for a D60 digital SLR and now also have the high-resolution, full-frame Canon 1Ds. |
